Meet Cardinal Tobin

On November 29th at 7:30 pm the parishes of Deanery 1 have been invited to a mass that will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 25 Purdue Avenue, Oakland, NJ to meet our new Archbishop, Joseph Cardinal Tobin. Since his coming to the Archdiocese, Cardinal Tobin has been visiting all the deaneries in the Archdiocese as a way of getting to know the people and priests he has been called to serve. The Cardinal will meet with the priests of the deanery first, and then be the main celebrant at the deanery mass. After mass there will be a reception as well as a time to meet with Cardinal Tobin for a question and answer session. Please join us for the mass as we welcome Archbishop, Cardinal Tobin to Deanery 1

Christmas Art Show & Sale

Six accomplished artists will be exhibiting their works at the St Gabriel Christmas Art Show & Sale on the last weekend of November (11/25 & 26) and the first weekend of December (12/2 & 3) at the Kavin Center. The show will be before, during, and after all masses for those weekends. The artists are parishioners Nora Winn, Bob Rizzotti, Tom Parke, John Grisoni, Ron Larson, and friend of the parish, John Duval of Hoboken. All are serious artists who honed their talents over the years with art lessons and workshops. All have participated in art shows (many juried) in the Tri-State area where they received awards for their work. All are members of prestigious art organizations, and their paintings are in the hands of several collectors. The media is watercolor and oil in frames. Please drop by before or after mass on those weekends to meet some of the artists. You may find something that will grace your home or make a thoughtful Christmas gift. It is suggested that you bring cash or check if you wish to take a painting home right away. A deposit will hold a painting for you. A portion of all sales will go to St Gabriel’s. We are hoping that this will be a welcome annual Christmas event for St. Gabriel’s and its families.
